Artwork guidelines

What to send for each kind of product. Every product page has its own guide for the options you choose, and we check every file before it prints.

Paper and card print

  • PDF preferred, 300 dpi images, fonts embedded or outlined. We check every file before printing.
  • We print in CMYK. Bright RGB colours (especially vivid blues and greens) can look slightly duller on paper; we flag anything noticeable at the artwork check.

Business cards

  • Add 3 mm bleed on every edge and keep text 3 mm inside the trim.

Flyers

  • Add 3 mm bleed on every edge and keep text 3 mm inside the trim.

Posters

  • Add 5 mm bleed on every edge and keep text 5 mm inside the trim.

Clothing and promotional items

  • Supply a PNG with a transparent background, or a vector PDF, for logos and text. A background colour or box around your design prints as part of it.
  • Keep your design inside the print area for the position you choose; anything outside it does not print.
  • Or design it online: the studio shows the print area for the options you choose.
  • Colours on fabric and coated items can look different from your screen; we flag anything noticeable when we check your file.

T-shirts

  • Print area up to 280 × 360 mm on the front or back.

Mugs

  • Full wrap artwork is 200 × 95 mm; keep important content 5 mm inside the edges.

Photo products

  • The canvas wraps round the frame: about 25 mm of extra image per edge on an 18 mm frame and 45 mm on a 38 mm frame.
  • Image wrap: your photo continues round the sides, so keep faces and text away from the edges. Mirror wrap: the sides are a mirror of the edge of your photo, so nothing is lost from the front. Colour edge: the sides are a solid colour.
  • Use the largest photo you have; we warn you if its resolution is too low for the size.
  • PDF preferred, 300 dpi images, fonts embedded or outlined. We check every file before printing.

DTF transfers

  • Upload your gang sheet as a PNG with a transparent background, at the actual size of the sheet you order.
  • Everything that is not transparent is printed, so remove any background colour or box around your designs.
  • Colours can look different from your screen; we flag anything noticeable when we check your file.
  • We'll confirm spacing between designs and the pressing instructions when we check your order.

Plans and drawings

  • Upload a PDF with each page set to the sheet size you order (A3, A2, A1 or A0), so drawings print at their intended scale. If a page is a different size, we check with you before printing it.
  • Check that fine lines and small text are legible at the printed size.
  • In black & white, colours print as shades of grey: check that coloured lines and hatching can still be told apart.
  • The number of sheets you choose must match the pages in your PDF.

Document copying

  • Upload a PDF with one page per page you want printed. Save Word and other documents as PDF first, so the layout and fonts stay as you see them.
  • The page count you choose must match your file. If it does not, we hold the order, show you the count we found and let you correct it; nothing is printed until it matches.
  • In black & white, colours print as shades of grey.
  • Keep text inside normal page margins.

Not sure your file is right?

Send it anyway and we will tell you if anything needs changing, or send a design brief and our designer can prepare it for you. You can also call us on 020 7474 5888.
